Big Show Planned for Sunday November 19th!

From 11am to 1pm Eastern Time on WMAR, (follow this link to access the web cast versions: on the AM side of course) a big line of guests is set to join faster than you can say East Coast Media Bias.

This list includes West Coasters such as San Diego's Geoff Young from Ducksnorts.com and Knucklecurve.com talking about his blog, his team (which happens to be my team the San Diego Padres) making predictions about the upcoming winter. He also tells us about what to expect from Jake Peavy in 2007 and lets us in on his book project.

Maury Brown joins us from Portland, OR who participates at The Baseball Journals, Baseball Prospectus , editor of bizofbaseball.com and VP of the Northwest Chapter of the Society of American Baseball Research to analyze the new Collective Bargaining Agreement and how it will effect free agency. Brown discusses the Red Sox bid on Daisuke Matsuzaka and how Matsuzaka may wind up getting the largest mult-year contract ever for a pitcher.

In the second hour we go inside the numbers live with Richard Billingsley of the College Football Research Center and whose labors helped build the ESPN College Football Encyclopedia (link to amazon.com). He is on to discuss how his rankings are part of the new BCS Formula and give us a reaction on the past weekend in college football; observing the fallout of the #1 vs. #2 Ohio State-Michigan game.

Also joining us live in our second hour is Ken Pomeroy, whose Pomeroy Ratings have become highly popular and his articles featured on his blog at kenpom.com/blog and at ESPN.com Insider. He will join us to talk college basketball as we take an early look at the field for the Old Spice Classic set to air live Thanksgiving weekend on the ESPN family of networks.

Speaking of BCS, it would not be a complete show without Kenneth Massey and his computer rankings which also equate into the BCS formula. Massey discusses his rankings, which can be visited at Masseyratings.com as well as all of the rankings research he has done which dates back to 1997! Massey, a mathematics graduate from Virginia Tech, called by former SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer "one of the brightest young mathematical minds in the world" (link from cfrc.com) shares his insights about the structure of the BCS ratings as we try to find out how much of a chance the Rutgers Scarlet Knights have at sneaking into the National Championship game.

The pregame show for the Marist Men's Basketball Home Opener against Florida Atlantic starts at 3pm.

We still have not officially named our show and we are always looking for show names! You can be a part of the show by calling in live at 845 575 FOX2 or sending an IM on AOL Instant Messenger at MaristRadioAM.

College Basketball Season Opener

Marist women's baksetball turned out victorious on Friday night, winning 82-72 over Stony Brook. This was WMAR's big rebut for college basketball and we hope all our listeners enjoy our programming. The women's team travels to Duke to play Friday 11/17. The men's team opens Saturday 11/11 at Ohio.

Halftime featured my interview with Brian Berger host of Sports Business Radio. If we have time on Sunday at 11am to 1pm, I will replay the interview. It is the best interview with an FM punk rock background (oops). Here is the link to the interview (downloadable through sendspace.com), hopefully that works.

WMAR-AM's next broadcast of College Basketball is set for Sunday November 19th with the Marist Red Fox men taking on Florida Atlantic. Game time is 4pm, pre game time is to be announced.

Trying this Blog Thing out
